Traveling around the world is one of the best ways to learn about yourself and others while still having fun. Traveling is definitely something that everyone should do at least once a year, but it personally requires a lot of preparation. Since I am traveling out of the country in a couple of weeks, I decided to share 9 essential items that I must have in my carry on before getting on the plane.
1. NECK PILLOWS
Sleeping on the plane is almost impossible for me for three reasons:
1. I don’t like sleeping surrounded by people I don’t know.
2. Planes are usually cold AF.
3. I have yet to find an angle that makes sleeping comfortable without causing a stiff neck once my flight is over.
Fortunately, my neck pillow gives me some comfort. You can find one here
2. DISPOSIBLE CAMERA
Living in the moment is great, but capturing memories is even better! I like disposable cameras because they are pretty cheap to purchase and they force me to print my pictures and store them in an album instead of sending it to the cloud. You can buy a pack of 4 cameras for 20 bucks here.
3. PASSPORT + PASSPORT HOLDER
One of the most important documents you can have. If you haven’t purchased one, INVEST in one ASAP! Right now, I am loving all of the passport holders that the Bespoke Binny site have stocked. The women who owns the site is super helpful and the quality is amazing. Plus, they black owned! 🙂
I gotta have sunglasses with me wherever I go. They add the an extra dash of style to any outfit, and they definitely help step your selfie game up. Local artist Tres Mercedes has some very unique glasses that . you should get ASAP.
5. A SMALL BACKPACK
Backpacks are nice to have when traveling because they aren’t bulky and they force you to pack light when going out. My small backpacks usually contains this mental checklist: Money, Identification, Lipstick, Keys, Phone and Charger. You can find some cute affordable backpacks at Forever 21.
6. A SIMPLE LEATHER JACKET
A leather jacket is a wardrobe essential and it can be dressed up or dressed down. You can find a cute simple one at Nordstrom.
7. YOUR FAVORITE LIPSTICK
I wear lipstick on an everyday basis, so having lipstick with me is a must. I am really feeling the nude look right now and I just found out that the shade “Hug Me” makes a great nude for chocolate women! You can purchase one here. And guys, just replace lipstick with chapstick 🙂
8/9. PORTABLE PLUG ADAPTERS AND CHARGERS
A lot of us forget that other continents use different outlets than we do here in the states. To save yourself the stress trying to find an outlet adapter in a different country, just buy one before your trip. Make sure to carry it around with you just in case your phone or portable charger needs a power up. Buy one here.
