Oakland based photo company VSCO in collaboration with Access Ventures , has launched their first VSCO Voices Program. This program supports five creators with mentorship and funding to empower marginalized communities in the United States through art.

Deun Ivory, Chicago based illustrator, photographer, and creative director of one of our favorite blog sites Blackgirlinom, is dedicated to telling the stories of Black Women through her art.

According to VSCO, her project – The Body: A Home for Love will “explore the narratives of fifteen black women who have experienced sexual abuse at some point in their lives. Through visual documentation and a series of interviews, Deun will create a safe space for these women to engage in an intimate conversation about their traumatic experiences and the process of their healing journey. She will use these powerful stories and visuals to curate an art show that will raise awareness about the unfortunate reality that so many of our young black girls face while also providing a safe space for current victims to feel empowered to speak up and begin their own healing journey.” -VSCO
