BROWN ESTATE: NAPA’S FIRST BLACK OWNED WINERY

Brown Estate, a second generation winery is Napa’s FIRST black owned winery. Read up on their history, and how you can support them.

While scrolling down my Facebook feed this afternoon, I came across a post about Napa’s first Black owned winery and you know I had to get more information.

In 1980, Bassett and Marcela Brown bought an abandoned ranch in Napa Valley, planted viniferous grapes, and spent the next decade farming these grapes and selling them to local winemakers. In 1995, the brown kids – Deneen, Coral Brown, and David – founded the Brown Estate winery by turning their knowledge of wine into their first bottle. “It’s natural for the second generation to take it from vine to bottle,” Deneen explained to 7×7 .

This winery is definitely different then most and gives off a total grown and sexy vibe. Great for a girls trip, a couples weekend, or just hanging with friends, Brown Estate is a perfect getaway. Definitely book a visit and tell them that the Nook and Kranny Squad sent you.
